UCP government failing to protect Albertans from measles
Sarah Hoffman, Alberta New Democrat Shadow Minister for Health, issued the following statement as Alberta reports more than one thousand measles cases:
“The UCP government’s incompetent response to the measles outbreak means more and more Albertans are paying the price.
“We now have four different health ministers and not one of them is doing anything to get this outbreak under control. This includes our so-called ‘preventative health’ minister, Adriana LaGrange, who should be increasing vaccination rates and keeping the public informed on outbreaks across the province.
“People are getting sick with this potentially life altering and deadly disease because the government hasn't taken vaccines seriously and they haven't done their job to promote public health.
“The good news is there is an effective vaccine available to all Albertans. Please call 811 to ensure your vaccines are up to date; if they aren’t, you can get an MMR booster which could save your life.”
