STATEMENT: UCP Minister sneaks hate-preaching performer into Legislature

Rakhi Pancholi, Alberta’s New Democrat Caucus Deputy Leader, issued the following statement after UCP minister sneaks highly controversial MAGA supporter into Legislature:

“A UCP cabinet minister, Children and Family Services Minister Searle Turton, snuck a hate-preaching American performer into the Legislature rotunda so he could film a social media video. Turning a space that belongs to all Albertans into a Minister’s personal worshipping space is wrong and the government knows it.

“This space belongs to the people of Alberta, including the racialized and 2SLGBTQ Albertans this man preaches hate against. The Minister knew all of this and still chose to misuse the space for his own personal interest.

“The UCP government and its Ministers feel a level of entitlement that they have not earned. It’s time for them to remember that they serve Albertans and only Albertans.”
