REALITY CHECK: KENNEY MUST SHARE WHAT HE KNOWS ABOUT UCP CAUCUS BUDGET

EDMONTON – UCP leadership candidate Jason Kenney has raised serious concerns about the UCP caucus budget and the use of staff for alleged non-legislative reasons, and needs to come forward with any evidence he may have concerning these allegations.

In a story in the Calgary Herald, Kenney alleged the Wildrose caucus staff were operating a “shadow leadership campaign at taxpayers’ expense”[1] on behalf of then-leader Brian Jean.

In an additional message on social media last week, Kenney said, “This deficit was the result of decisions made by former Official Opposition Leader Brian Jean, who increased spending and staffing levels by 30% in the lead-up to this leadership campaign.”[2]

Mr. Kenney has a duty to Albertans to make public any evidence he may have of these serious concerns. He should also assure Albertans the PC caucus had none of the same issues.
