NOTLEY STATEMENT REGARDING KEYSTONE XL

EDMONTON – Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley issued the following statement regarding President Biden rescinding the construction permit for the Keystone XL pipeline:

“It’s no doubt that the decision to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline will harm thousands of Alberta workers and their families. It is a difficult day for Alberta’s energy sector.

“For all Albertans; however, this decision is made far worse by the Premier’s reckless gamble of at least $1.5 billion on a project that most people understood was at great risk and over which he had no authority.

“We continue to call on the Premier to stop hiding the deal he struck with TC Energy from Albertans. There is still another $6 billion at stake and Albertans deserve to know how much of that we stand to lose.”
