UCP LOTTERY PRIZES NOW INCLUDE THINGS TAKEN AWAY BY UCP

CALGARY – Jason Kenney’s vaccine lottery prizes now include free access to enjoy and explore Kananaskis Country, an area that used to be free to access before the UCP formed government.

In a news release Wednesday, the Government of Alberta added 10 free $90 Kananaskis Conservation Passes to a second vaccine lottery prize pool, requiring Albertans to re-submit their entry. Environment Minister Jason Nixon only introduced the pass a few weeks ago, and it came into effect June 1.

“It isn’t a ‘prize’ if Albertans are winning something they should always have access to in the first place. Peter Lougheed would be appalled,” said NDP Environment Critic Marlin Schmidt.

“The inclusion of the K-Country passes is an insult to all Albertans and sets a bad precedent. What’s next? AISH cost of living increases? A new teacher for your kids’ school? No wage rollback for the closest nurse in your family? Your own 10 square feet area of the mountains protected from coal mining?”

The Alberta NDP continue to oppose the UCP move to charge Albertans for accessing K-Country.
