UCP BEING TWO-FACED ON CALGARY GREEN LINE PROJECT

CALGARY – NDP Municipal Affairs Critic Joe Ceci issued the following statement regarding Transportation Minister Ric McIver’s statement that the Green Line is “not approved”:

“The Green Line is a vital project that will transform our city and despite what Mr. McIver says, this project was approved by the province. I know this because I was Finance Minister when Rachel Notley and our NDP government signed the deal. Ric McIver keeps speaking out of both sides of his mouth to avoid telling Albertans the real truth, that Jason Kenney and his rich donor friends want this project cancelled.

“The UCP are slow-walking this project to a refusal by jeopardizing funding and undermining all efforts by the City of Calgary to get plans moving. At a time when Calgarians desperately need jobs, the UCP are working overtime to cancel a project that will create 20,000 jobs and support our economic recovery through this pandemic. Calgarians have had enough of this two-faced behaviour. They deserve better."
