STOP CAMPAIGNING IN BC AND DEFEND ALBERTA JOBS: NDP TO KENNEY

EDMONTON – With BC Premier Christy Clark threatening to slap a $70-per-tonne levy on Alberta coal exports shipped through BC ports, NDP MLA for Calgary-Shaw Graham Sucha said Conservative Leader Jason Kenney should stay out of the BC election and stand up for Alberta jobs.

Earlier this week, Mr. Kenney was reported to be in British Columbia raising funds for the Conservative Party and urging people to vote for the BC Liberals.

“Why is Jason Kenney campaigning in BC, when he should be in Alberta fighting for jobs?” said Sucha.  “Clearly Mr. Kenney needs to explain himself and get his priorities straight.  Albertans expect more from the new PC leader.”

“Ever since Mr. Kenney said schools should out gay kids, he has gone into hiding in Alberta, but has popped up in BC raising money and supporting a party that is threatening Alberta jobs,” said Sucha.  “Just whose side is Mr. Kenney on?  It’s clearly not Alberta workers.  He needs to come out of the backrooms, talk to everyday Albertans, and start doing his job.”
