STATEMENT: UCP Government continues to make life less affordable for Albertans

Court Ellingson, Alberta’s New Democrat Shadow Minister for Finance, released the following statement on the UCP government making vehicle insurance unaffordable:

“Albertans deserve a government that understands the financial pressures individual Albertans are facing.

“Instead, Danielle Smith and her UCP government are prioritizing the profitability of insurance companies over affordability for Albertans.

“The premier promised Albertans would save $400.00 a year as a result of her policies. You can’t trust what she says, you have to watch what she does, and the reality is Albertans are paying more because of the UCP government's so-called ‘rate cap’ that allows insurers to charge drivers more this year and next.

“Alberta’s New Democrats believe Albertans are paying too much for insurance.  We would put all options on the table to reduce the burden placed on them as they deal with the UCP government’s affordability crisis.”
