GANLEY RESPONDS TO ENERGY EMERGENCY ALERT LEVEL ONE ISSUED BY AESO

NDP Energy Critic Kathleen Ganley issued the following statement regarding the Energy Emergency Alert Level One issued by the Alberta Electricity System Operator (AESO):

“As Albertans struggle to stay safe during the ongoing heatwave, our electricity grid is at increasing risk of failure.

“We need a grid that can provide affordable and reliable power, especially during times of crisis. I am deeply concerned about the health and safety of Albertans, especially those who are vulnerable and seniors. The grid cannot fail during this unprecedented heatwave.

“The UCP Government should immediately present Albertans with a plan on how they will stabilize this situation and we call on them to consider long-term solutions that will prevent this from ever happening again.”
