Derek Fildebrandt and Freedom Conservatives must denounce Bernier’s intolerant rant

For immediate release

EDMONTON – MLA Derek Fildebrandt, leader of the Freedom Conservative Party, must denounce his friend and ally Conservative MP Maximer Bernier who made an intolerant rant that diversity will “destroy” what makes Canada a great country, calling diversity a “cult.”[1]

Fildebrandt represents a diverse community in Brooks. He should immediately denounce these comments for the intolerance they are, and show that such hateful views have no place in Alberta

Fildebrandt led the charge to gain Bernier support from the UCP in Alberta. He managed to get endorsements for Bernier from UCP Deputy Leader Leela Aheer, House Leader Jason Nixon, Angela Pitt, Scott Cyr, Wes Taylor, Rick Strankman and Mike Ellis, as well as former UCP MLA Don MacIntyre.[2]

Derek Fildebrandt must show Albertans that his Freedom Conservative Party believes diversity is a good thing, not a “cult” out to “destroy” Canada.
