Albertans deserve a public inquiry into the CorruptCare scandal

Christina Gray, Alberta’s New Democrat House Leader, issued the following statement regarding the expected release of the CorruptCare report: 

"Today, Albertans should be receiving Justice Wyant's delayed interim report into the CorruptCare scandal. 

“On March 10th, Minister of Justice Mickey Amery committed in the Alberta Legislature that Justice Wyant’s interim report would be posted on Alberta.ca as soon as it is complete.  Even though we have little faith in this carefully constructed report, we hope the Minister holds to his commitment. 

“While we appreciate the work that the retired Justice has done, we will not be surprised if this report---with every last detail controlled by the same people implicated in the scandal--- ends up being a total whitewash of this government. 

"Given the scope and severity of the allegations in the CorruptCare scandal, only a fully independent public inquiry, with the power to subpoena witness testimonies under oath, would have gotten to the full truth of what went on. Alberta’s New Democrat Caucus will not stop calling for a real public inquiry until Albertans get the answers and accountability they deserve. 

“Anything short of a fully public inquiry into the CorruptCare scandal is an insult to every single Albertan who depends on our health care system.”

Christina Gray, leader parlementaire néo-démocrate de l’Alberta, a publié la déclaration suivante quant à la publication attendue du rapport CorruptCare :

« Aujourd'hui, les Albertains devraient recevoir le rapport provisoire du juge Wyant sur le scandale CorruptCare (corruption du système de soins de santé), qui avait été retardé.

» Le 10 mars, le ministre de la justice Mickey Amery s'est engagé devant l'Assemblée législative de l'Alberta à ce que le rapport provisoire du juge Wyant soit publié sur le site Alberta.ca aussitôt terminé. Quoique nous ayons peu foi en ce rapport minutieusement fabriqué, nous espérons que le ministre respectera son engagement.

» Bien que nous apprécions le travail accompli par le juge retraité, nous ne nous étonnerons pas si ce rapport - dont le moindre petit détail est contrôlé par ceux mêmes qui sont mêlés à ce scandale - se révèle être une absolution totale de ce gouvernement.

» Sachant l'ampleur et la gravité des accusations dans le scandale CorruptCare, seule une enquête publique parfaitement indépendante, habilitée à contraindre des témoins à déposer sous serment, aurait pu faire toute la lumière sur ce qui s'est produit. Le caucus des néo-démocrates de l'Alberta ne cessera d'exiger une véritable enquête publique que lorsque les Albertains auront reçu les réponses et la transparence qu'ils méritent.

» Il faut au moins qu'une enquête parfaitement publique se fasse sur ce scandale; y manquer, c'est insulter chaque Albertain qui dépend de notre système de santé. »
