IF ELECTED, KENNEY WOULD PUT SW EDMONTON HOSPITAL IN JEOPARDY

EDMONTON – UCP Leader Jason Kenney won’t commit to finishing the new hospital for Southwest Edmonton if elected.

When asked about the project today, Kenney said “we have to look at what are the overall costs”.

“Jason Kenney is completely out of touch with what families in Southwest Edmonton need. He will prioritize a $700 million tax break for the rich, but doesn't see the value of a new hospital to serve Albertans,” said Thomas Dang, MLA for Edmonton-South West. He can’t even commit to a new hospital for the tens and thousands of families that live in my neighbourhoods."

In 2017, the Government of Alberta committed $400 million for the design and development of a new hospital in southwest Edmonton. The last time an acute care hospital was built in Edmonton was in 1988 – over 30 years ago. Since that time the population of Edmonton has almost doubled.

Kenney’s has advocated for two-tier, American-style healthcare. His plan to privatize health care and make reckless cuts will hurt Albertans.
