Compensation Rate:

Hourly wage is between $30-$35 per hour commensurate with experience in addition to a comprehensive benefits package.

Hours Per Week:

This is a full-time position consisting of 36.5 hours per week.

Job Description:

Reporting to the MLA of Calgary-Elbow, the Constituency Assistant will be a liaison between the MLA and constituents, community groups, and stakeholders. The Constituency Assistant will be required to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment and take responsibility for assisting the MLA with office management, staffing, outreach, event support, and communications. Travel to events and meetings across the constituency and the province may be required. 

Key Responsibilities:

Receive, document, and respond to inquiries, concerns, and requests from constituents and stakeholders on a wide range of local and provincial issues.
Assist constituents with accessing government services and programs.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of constituent interactions.
Ensure compliance with legislative and privacy requirements. 
Staff the MLA at community events and activities.
Assist with written communications such as Substack and newsletters.
Record, edit, and post social media content.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills: 

Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience. Customer service experience is an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to adjust to changing priorities, and to respond well to feedback.
Familiarity with MS Windows, Office365.
An interest in politics and making a difference in people’s lives. 
Working Conditions:

Flexible office hours, with occasional evenings and weekends required.

Some travel within the constituency and across the province may be necessary.
