NDP OPPOSITION PROVIDES WRITTEN QUESTIONS IN ADVANCE IN EFFORT TO GET REAL ANSWERS FROM UCP GOVERNMENT

EDMONTON -- Today the NDP Official Opposition will provide its Question Period questions to the government in advance and in writing, in hopes that UCP ministers will provide real answers to Albertans.

“Yesterday, we went into Question Period seeking answers for the thousands upon thousands of Albertans we’re hearing from,” said Heather Sweet, NDP House Leader. “We asked questions on behalf of frontline nurses and doctors who are worried about cuts to health care. We asked questions on behalf of working Albertans forced into self-isolation and we asked questions on behalf of parents whose kids are being kept home and on behalf of families struggling to pay the bills during this unprecedented crisis.

“We did not get the answers Albertans were looking for. Not even close. So, today, we are trying a new approach to get the answers Albertans deserve.”

With advance written notice of questions, the government has no excuse not to answer with facts and specific descriptions of their plans to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
