Spring 2016 - Bill 16: Traffic Safety Amendment Act

The Traffic Safety Act is reviewed regularly, and has been under review since 2013. The changes in this amendment will update some minor inconsistencies in current legislation and introduce new legislation around Transportation Network Companies (TNCs).

TNCs such as Uber are introducing new transportation options in the marketplace. This legislation will help ensure that TNCs operate in a fair manner while protecting drivers, passengers and other road users.

Bill 16 passed third reading on May 26, 2016 and came into force on May 27, 2016.
