REALITY CHECK: MORE FLIP-FLOPS FROM THE WILDROSE ON GSAs

EDMONTON – Wildrose MLAs showed up to work today wearing giant buttons with the words “Include Parents” printed on them.

NDP MLA Michael Connolly is asking Wildrose Leader Brian Jean to explain just what exactly the buttons are intended to communicate.

“Mr. Jean flip-flopped three times last week on whether or not he thought schools should phone home if their children joined a GSA,” said Connolly.  “So it seems fair to ask just what is going on when half of his caucus members come to the Legislature wearing these buttons.”

  • Are these MLAs saying that schools should phone home if their children decide to hang out with gay kids?
  • Are Mr. Jean’s MLAs expressing their dissatisfaction with their leader’s flip-flops on the issue?
  • Do the buttons highlight growing internal divisions within the Wildrose caucus?

“If I were Brian Jean, I would want to clear this mystery up,” said Connolly.

Connolly said that Wildrose MLAs might want to wear buttons that said “Support Cutting School Fees,” but he wasn't holding his breath.
