NDP Leader Rachel Notley issued the following statement in response to news that the UCP Government is seeking to cut the wages of Alberta nurses:

“This is a UCP Government that has wasted billions on no-jobs corporate handouts. They have gambled billions on cancelled and risky oil and gas projects.

“Now, when it comes to the very people who put themselves in the path of the COVID-19 pandemic to care for Albertans and save lives, they move to cut their pay.

“This government is doing this at a time when Alberta is already experiencing healthcare staff shortages, and this will only further the betrayal being felt.

“This defies common-sense values.”
