Deron Bilous, NDP Critic for Economic Development and Innovation, made the following statement:

“Alberta families and businesses continue to struggle as our province’s recovery lags behind most of the country. While I’m pleased to see some jobs return as public health restrictions are eased, Alberta still has the second highest unemployment rate in Canada, and unemployment is falling more slowly in Alberta than the national average.

“We had hoped to see a credible plan in Budget 2021 for a strong economic recovery and job creation, but Jason Kenney failed to deliver. Instead he gambled away billions of Alberta taxpayers’ dollars on failed projects. At this pivotal time, we need bold and innovative ideas to build a more diversified economy that creates good jobs. I’m proud that our caucus is engaging with Albertans to develop this plan at AlbertasFuture.ca.”
