Anti-racism advocacy and race equity policy proposals for Alberta are urgently needed.
It is up to us as Albertans to change laws, attitudes, and systems in order to continue and further this work.
We are calling on politicians, organizations, advocates, community leaders, BIPOC Albertans and allies from varying backgrounds to take part in a series of conversations to create concrete policy proposals.
We know that bold action is needed and are carrying forward the work our government did with the 2018 Take Action Against Racism Report.
Alberta’s NDP Caucus is committed to working with our communities in addressing systemic racism.
We held our initial public feedback response on the topic of Anti-racism advocacy and race equity policy on July 30th 2020.
We are now going to be engaging in a series of focused discussions wherein we will take drafted anti-racist policy proposals and divide ourselves into committees according to different subject areas such as:
- Healthcare - December 19, 2020
- Education - January 16, 2021
- Public Safety - February 6, 2021
- Economic Participation
- Community Services
- Democratic Participation
