Spring 2016 - Bill 19: Reform of Agencies, Boards and Commissions Compensation Act

Bill 19 was passed in the Legislature on May 25, 2016. It will allow the government to develop regulations to set compensation outlines which include salaries for the executives and board members of public agencies, commissions and boards under the Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act.

Initially, it will apply to those organizations who have executives with a base salary over $200,000 per year.

An independent consulting firm will review comparable jurisdictions and agencies and provide advice on developing compensation frameworks.

The parties affected and all Albertans will be engaged and invited to comment on the policy before it is implemented.

Bill 19 came into force May 27, 2016.
